How to use this product.

Before using the product on the entire surface of your leather, make sure you have stripped it first, we also advise you to do a first test on a hidden area to make sure of the color following the reaction leather.

Once you are satisfied with the result, apply a first coat of stain evenly, then let it dry for at least an hour before you can have a true idea of the final result.

You can apply several more coats to get the result you want. We advise you to finish the patina with a complete maintenance of the leather in order to protect it.

Saphir Blue Base Shoe Dye for Patina Design 500ml

The blue base Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir (500ml) colours leather, suede or nubuck.

The Saphir Teinture Francaise shoe dye not only colours any leather item but it also helps you create a patina. It can be used for dyeing a leather sofa, several pairs of shoes or other accessories with a royal blue shade. This blue dye is meant to be applied as a blue base for colouring your leather and it can also be mixed with other shades to produce a colour contrast patina on your shoes which imitates the look of aged leather. The Saphir Teinture Francaise has been the leading leather dye since it was created in 1872 and has become a favourite among lovers of fine leather.

Use this dye to colour leather items either partially or wholly. The Saphir shoe dye can be dabbed onto specific areas that have been scratched and damaged to the point where they have lost their colour. You can used this dye on raw leather to colour it blue, or on leather that has had its colour removed in preparation for dyeing. This applies to any leather item including chairs, shoes and other accessories. Always test a bit of the dye on a hidden area to determine whether it produces the colour you want. This is a very important step since leather varies widely from one item to another and thus reacts differently during the dyeing process. If you are satisfied with the results, apply an even first coat of the blue dye over the entire leather surface and allow it to dry for at least one hour. Do not hesitate to apply more coats if you need to darken the colour. Once you are satisfied with the final results, you will need to complete the dyeing process with a shoe cream to nourish the leather and protect it from damage. At this point, you can skip the leather cleaning stage and proceed directly with a shoe cream to soften and nourish the leather. Opt for a shoe cream with a slightly darker blue tint than that of the dye to add depth to the final colour and to mask any imperfections. For leather shoes and accessories, complete the process with a shoe polish to waterproof and shine the leather. Remember to use the dye in a well-ventilated area and cover your clothing as well as any valuable objects to prevent them from getting stained.
