Here are our recommendations that you may need in addition to this product to ensure optimal results.

How to use this product.

Before using the product on the entire surface of your leather, make sure you have stripped it first, we also advise you to do a first test on a hidden area to make sure of the color following the reaction.

Once you are satisfied with the result, apply a first coat of stain evenly, then let it dry for at least an hour before you can have a true idea of the final result.

You can apply several more coats to get the result you want. We advise you to finish the patina with a complete maintenance of the leather in order to protect it.

Used on a light beige suede base. No doubt very good on a white base, here I am rather disappointed. You need at least two coats of product (I let it dry overnight between each application). At first it looks good, but once dry you barely see the color. With several passes the color is more visible but has a slightly green undertone...

Sapphire yellow dye

Hello everyone. I'm not a fan of dyeing leather by finding "THE" right color the first time by mixing (because Saphir dyes are perfectly mixable with each other). I prefer the layering technique, longer and sometimes risky but much more fun, let me explain; dyes work like colored “filters” which by superimposing them give you a shade (a blue base over a yellow base will give you green for example). Personally I very regularly use yellow from Saphir as a very first base even if the end result that I have in mind is a dress in a rather dark color. For a very simple reason: it gives light, warmth to the final shade (for example dyeing a pair in burgundy, you will notice that your burgundy "dress" will be much more interesting with a yellow base instead of using directly burgundy). But if I have one piece of advice to give you, don't be too "calculative" about the shade you want to give to the shoes, of course you have to keep "a course" but let yourself be pleasantly surprised by the results of successive superpositions of shades and above all do not be "afraid" in an application even if not uniform (much more interesting to obtain these pretty "marbled" or "vintage" effects rather than a uniform and boring dress). If you are afraid (which seems normal at first), use the "neutral thinner" from Saphir in order to soften the color and its effects, this process will allow you a more gradual application and allows you to increase the number of layers and thus have a little better control over your final result. Hope my observations can help you.

Suede dye

This very light dye is surely more effective on a white surface. I used it on fluorescent green, it had no effect.

Dear customer, this yellow base is mainly used for mixing. Depending on your support, each shade will behave differently.

Easy to use. Dense color

Easy to install. I used it to color shoes but after a few weeks of use I had to reapply because the color was missing in places. I don't know if this is due to the product or the preparation of the support. ...

Saphir Base Yellow Shoe Dye for Patina Design 50ml

The yellow base Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir (50ml) is ideal for colouring or creating a patina on smooth leather, nubuck and suede shoes.

The Teinture Francaise yellow base shoe dye is a primary colour dye which, like all other primary colours, produce secondary shades when mixed with other colours. It is therefore useful for personalising the colour of your leather shoes, wallets or bags. The Teinture Francaise leather dye by Saphir is sold in a set that includes a pair of latex gloves, a cotton wick applicator and a colour mixing guide to help you create your own unique shoe colour.

The yellow base shoe dye can be used alone or mixed with other dye colours. It gives a yellow or yellow-derived shade to un-tinted leather. You can also apply this dye to small leather items that have been colour-stripped in preparation for the dyeing process. The lighter the leather colour, the better the results. You may also wish to use this yellow dye to touch up and restore the original look of items that have lost their colour after being damaged. Use the dye in a well-ventilated area and cover your clothing as well as any valuable objects likely to get stained. Test a bit of the dye on a hidden area to assess the results so that you don’t get disappointed at the end of the process. If you are satisfied with the results, apply the dye over the entire surface of the shoe and allow it to dry for at least one hour. If the colour is not intense enough after an hour, do not hesitate to add additional coats of the dye, but be mindful of the one-hour drying time required after each coat. Once you are satisfied with the final results, you will need to complete the dyeing process by nourishing and protecting the leather to restore its suppleness and shine. Choose a shoe cream colour that blends well with the Saphir yellow base colour and apply the shoe cream directly onto the leather. Shoe creams carry the double advantage of nourishing leather and intensifying its colour. Complete the process with a shoe polish to waterproof the leather and protect it from impact damage.

Store your Saphir yellow base shoe dye in a cool, dry place to ensure a long shelf life, and remember to tightly close the bottle cap.
